Rules for Relationships
Let the Relationship Rule, Do not try to Rule the other person in
the relationship.
The Primary rule in any relationship should be: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Treat others like you wanted to be treated: with respect and dignity. For example here are some more specific rules to live by:
- No Physical Abuse! Control Your Self: Love should not hurt. Never slap, or kick or hit your partner.
- Be honest, it's the best way to build trust.
- Manage Your Emotions: don't resort to verbal abuse; never scream, yell, threaten, or belittle your partner.
- Be Polite: don't call people rude names, don't do rude things.
- Be On time: don't be late with a lame excuse.
- Get to know the other person and let them get to know you: compliment the other person they do something well and when they do something you like. Encourage them to let you know what they like.
- Communicate (see communications page). Don't let them be mind readers, let them know what works and what does not work.
